Most parking services pay whenever someone clicks on a sponsored link. CPA-based programs, on the other hand, pay only when someone takes an action. Generally these programs require you to have some content on your site, and then ad ads to it.

Parking Empire is the first parking service to be based entirely on a CPA model. You sign up for offers that your domain is then directed to. The service is developed by CPA Empire - a program that originally monetized email campaigns. There have been accusations of spamming, most recently from MySpace. CPA Empire and Parking Empire are moving into web-based services and domain monetization, but many of their offers will remind you of spam you may have received in the past.

Click Bank is the premier program for information products. These products often have a 50% or higher commission rate because once an information product is created it costs the author less and less to sell each one. Some domainers simply redirect their domain to the Click Bank landing page that is automatically created by the system. Others use links or banner ads to direct people to Click Bank products. LinkShare.com is an affiliate management program that includes advertisers such as Flowers.com and Omaha Steaks. AzoogleAds is a similar program.

Auction Ads is a new eBay affiliate system developed by Jeremy “ShoeMoney” Shoemaker. eBay has always had an affiliate program, but it was cumbersome to join through Commission Junction, and it only paid when someone new to eBay signed-up for an account. Recently eBay liberalized their payments, but didn’t simplify their process. ShoeMoney’s new Auction Ads product is as easy to use as AdSense, but actually pays better than eBay’s own program. This is because Jeremy splits his higher tier revenue from eBay, without taking a cut (at least for now). Ads are geo-targeted, so people in different countries are taken to their own version of eBay when they click on an ad.

You can run Auction Ads on the same page as Google’s AdSense ads, since the ads look very different. You can see examples of Auction Ads at Psychology.info (at the top) and SeniorCenters.com (on the right). These ads are great for domains that you are developing rather than parking. As with AdSense, you should probably avoid creating “made for Auction Ads sites” that have little other content. The ease-of-use and revenue potential of Auction Ads will make this one of the top income streams for many domainers who are moving beyond parking for some of their domains.

Sedo and SedoPro

Sedo started out as a German company, but has grown into an international domain powerhouse with U.K. and U.S. divisions. Sedo will list your names for sale and broker the sale for you. Listing is free, and you pay 10% for their brokerage and escrow services when the domain sells. They also provide one of the best Pay-Per-Click parking services - which you can use whether or not you have your domain listed for sale. Sedo offers an outside escrow service for 3% if they did not broker the name for you.

Sedo’s parking services use a “one-click” model. They purchase Google ads and these are what will appear on your site. A person only has to click once. Google has such a wide variety of advertisers that many niche domains will find relevant ads here. Domains may show different ads in different countries, benefiting from Google’s and Sedo’s technology.

You do not need a minimum number of domains to benefit from Sedo’s parking services, and parking at Sedo also takes advantage of their marketing clout in selling your domain. Sedo offers customer service in multiple languages.

You can list your names immediately at Sedo, and you can suggest keywords. Keyword changes are generally approved overnight, but not on weekends. They also have a tool that will show you what your site will look like with different keywords entered. Customer service is excellent.

Sedo now offers a variety of parking pages. Examples of Sedo sites include pregnancycare.net, and westvirginiarivers.com. The pro version of Sedo formerly included better stats and landing pages, but most of the landing pages are now available in both services.

Once you have made changes in your portfolio in the Domain Optimizer you will see yellow icons next to the changes you have made. You still need to scroll to the bottom of the page and click the “Save Changes” button before leaving that page. If you don’t do this you will lose all of the changes that you have made. Ideally they should not need this second step. Why not just save your changes after you make them? At the very least they need to add a similar “save Changes” button toward the top of the page - or make the 2-step process a little more obvious.

Sedo states: “In order to maintain high standards of traffic quality, SedoPro asks each applicant to obtain an endorsement from an existing SedoPro member. Endorsement Codes can be obtained from any current SedoPro member. Admission to users who do not have an Endorsement Code is offered only to the very highest quality portfolio owners, following extensive checks by SedoPro staff. This can result in a delay in the processing of your application, and will make it more difficult to gain admission.”

Customer service guy was unbelievably rude when we asked a question about their website being confusing (which it is), and after several emails we told him to close our account because he was getting nasty. When we added names, we chose different categories, but the landers were all identical, and not attracticve. Popups were on every page and we couldn’t turn them off. This service is the worst we have tried so far. Not recommended.

Do you want to put your domains on auto-pilot? iMonetize is a service that tests your domains at many of the services listed here. They are a “meta-ppc provider” - testing your domains on a daily basis and parking them with the service that is paying the best on that particular day. After their testing is complete your domain may be parked with Domain Sponsor on Mondays and Active Audience on Tuesdays, for example.

iMonetize works well especially on high-traffic domains. Low traffic domains don’t seem to generate enough traffic for comparisons to be made.

iMonetize takes a cut of between 5% and 15% - but they also negotiate deals that may be better than what you would otherwise get. You also have access to programs that might not otherwise accept you. In theory you could do better with them even after they take a cut. One strategy to consider would be to park domains with them that get a lot of traffic but are not bringing in the income that you think they should. If income goes up - then keep them there.

NameDrive exploded on the scene with an easy-to-use service and a different approach. If you keep your domains parked with them for one month, they will offer to buy the domain for an amount equal to between 6 months and 8 years of the traffic generated. You don’t have to sell to them, of course, but it’s a great place to park a high traffic if you also want to sell it.

The people wanting to buy your domains are investors and venture capitalists who will pay a wholesale price and value your name strictly based on its PPC income. I’d rather sell to an end user at at least twice the price, but that approach also takes longer.

NameDrive’s services are very easy to set up and use. There are no lengthy waits for approval, and you can create one-click landing pages on demand. As with any service, these pages should accurately match the traffic coming to your site.

Their landing pages are attractive and flexible. If you view your domain portfolio settings (”Domain Portfolio” tab, and “Settings” tab) you will see small magnifying glass icons toward the middle of the page (between ‘keyword’ and ‘header’). Click on one of these and you will see a preview of how your domain looks - along with a number of different options of how it might look. Parked is one of the best-performing and best-run of the parking services. Customer service is responsive, and you won’t feel like you are stuck in someone’s bureaucracy. They pay out twice a month, immediately after you earned the money. No waiting for 30 or 45 days.

Consider using their customization tools to build out your site with attractive and useful content; but be aware that too much content can distract people from clicking on the ads. Once you decide to direct some paid traffic to your site keep good records of what you are spending and what you are making. Start small and cancel paid ads that are not converting.
Parked has also been aggressive in fighting click fraud - canceling some accounts of people who appeared to be generating fraudulent clicks. This has paid off for honest domainers who can earn lots of money here.
Default parking pages are very neat and attractive without a lot of content (that can sometimes distract viewers from clicking). Their stats are not as detailed as stats at Sedo or ActiveAudience, but this can be a good thing. Their simple interface is easy to navigate.

Parked continues to thoughtfully refine their system. They have added the ability to host your own images, and even to include your own links and other content.

Fabulous is a product that services retail registration and monetization customers.

A “Domain Registration Account” provides simple domain registration and management facilities for retail customers. Anyone can open one of these accounts.

A “Domain Monetization Account” is an application only service designed for customers who would like to monetize a portfolio of domain names. These accounts provide a domain parking system (including access to the Fabulous Premium Program), redirection services, domain sales tools, as well as wholesale pricing for registrations, renewals and transfers.
What are the benefits of the Fabulous Premium Program?

How do I open up a monetization account with Fabulous?

To open up a monetization account with Fabulous, please follow these simple steps:

1. Fill in the brief application form, including a list of domains you wish to park on with Fabulous.
2. Once approved, you will receive an email from your monetization account manager.
3. Your account manager will import all eligible domains from your application form into your account, categorize and optimize them for maximum revenue return.
4. When this is complete, you will receive an email notifying you that your domains are ready. At this time you need to change the Nameservers of these domains over to Fabulous, so that we can display content on them.

Dotzup is a fairly selective PPC parking service that creates custom landers for domains that are expected to generate high traffic.  They also have automated systems to handle other high quality domains, but they do not work with adult domains, trademark or typo-trademark domains, or even astrology domains, domains “derogatory to a specific race or religion”, drug related domains, and gambling/casino domains.

Dotzup has a program where they will guarantee that they will beat your current income for a given domain.  It appears that these domains are evaluated on a case-by-case basis, but it is a worry-free way to try this service with some of your better-earning domains.

The have upgraded their processes several times. It is now possible to get graphic-rich pages that will rotate with the more generic pages for the system to see which pages earn more revenue.

The stats that I get from Domain Sponsor always show fewer visitors than other services show for the same domain. Payouts are competitive, however. Digital-Daycare.com is an example of a Domain Sponsor domain.
