DN-MARKET
JULY 2010 TOP SALES..
| F Words Fetch $183,000 to Take the Top Two Spots on This Week’s Domain Sales Chart | |
| F words took the top two positions on this week’s DN Journal Top 20 Domain Sales Chart, but no need to cover your eyes – fortunately these F words are G-rated. Sedo.com reached the summit on the elite list with a $93,000 sale of FreeMarket.com while a private sale of Fiction.com, facilitated by Moniker’s brokerage service, was right behind at $90,000.
Sedo’s chart topper helped them claim four of the top five places on the Big Board and they swept 14 of 20 positions overall. Sedo’s hit list included the week’s biggest non .com gTLD sale – #3 DistanceLearning.net at $30,000 (that is also the 10th biggest sale in this category so far in 2010). Two more non .com gTLDs earned spots on the leader board – #4 Ethics.net ($22,500 at Sedo) and #15 (tie) Email.biz ($12,160 at Sedo). Sedo also recorded the week’s biggest ccTLD sale – #5 Everest.fr (French country code) at $22,400. The country codes had another very impressive week, piling up eight entries on the all extension leader board (just one less than the nine entries registered by .com domains). |

| NetFleet.com.au posted one of the biggest country code sales, #7 WebsiteDesign.com.au (Australian ccTLD) at $19,360. SnapNames also took part in the ccTLD onslaught with #10 Click.me (country code for Montenegro) at $17,200 and #18 Flights.us (United States country code) at $11,770. The latter name was sold in a Moniker/SnapNames .US Showcase auction that ended last week with over $42,000 in sales.
In another one of the week’s notable transactions, Moniker and Andy Kelly at UpmarketURLs.com joined forces to broker the private sale of a trio of 3-letter .com domains totaling $39,000 for seller James Stafford (whom many of you know from his NameCake.com and OilPrice.com websites). One of those three domains, CXC.com, sold for $21,000 to land at #6 on the Top 20 Chart (the other two sold were FEJ.com at $10,000 and RWP.com at $8,000). |
|
There were two more five-figure sales just off the chart, each coming in at $10,000 even. Those were PornLive.com, sold by Sedo, and FEJ.com, sold, as I mentioned earlier, in a private sale brokered by Moniker and UpmarketURLS.com.
.Com Supporting Cast
Sedo led the .com supporting cast with a pair of $9,999 domains; SuperRewards.com and Jeuxdecuisine.com. Their roster also included MaxiNutrition.com ($7,500) and two names at $6,500 apiece; BidBuy.com and USAChat.com. In addition to putting SecurityCameraSystems.com ($12,000) on the Top 20 Chart, the AfternicDLS sold ActivePath.com ($6,588), Interlogix.com ($5,400) and MedicalContinuingEducation.com ($5,000).

Country Codes
The country codes continued to kick butt with eight five-figure sales reported. All of those, led by Everest.fr ($22,400), earned places on the all extension leader board you saw earlier. The top ccTLD sales you haven’t seen yet round out the first half of our new Country Code Top 20 Sales Chart. Those are Laptops.se (Swedish ccTLD), #9 at $9,600, and Falcon.co.uk at #10 with a $9,295 sale. Sedo handled both of those transactions and went on to sweep 16 of the 20 chart positions overall.
There was a lot of diversity on this week’s ccTLD leader board. Germany’s .de had the most chart entries with four, followed by Great Britain’s .co.uk with three. America’s .us extension and the European Union’s .eu had two each. That left nine places that were shared by nine different countries: France (.fr), Australia (.com.au), Italy (.it), Montenegro (.me), Poland (.pl), Sweden (.se), Switzerland (.ch), the Netherlands (.nl) and Tuvalu (.tv).
There were dozens of additional four figure sales off the ccTLD chart with Sedo accounting for the vast majority of those. Their line up included ScienceDaily.eu ($3,840), Text-Link-Ads.it ($3,520) and Goin.ch ($3,328).
At SnapNames sales from the company’s .US Showcase auction with Moniker ruled the roost. AirlineTickets.us and CreditReports.us rang up $3,600 each, Psychics.us divined $2,915 and Louisville.us landed $1,750.
DebtConsolidation.us drew $1,600, VegasHotels.us booked $1,551 and PersonalLoans.us returned $1,265. Carpenter.us sawed off $1,180, Coupon.us redeemed $1,059 and Now.us notched $1,050.
Elsewhere, Moniker sold Dolls.eu for $3,750 and LeisureDomains moved Baja.ca at $2,250.

Global Contenders (Non .com gTLDs: .biz, .info, .mobi, .net, .org, .asia, .pro & .tel)
The non .com gTLDs had a trio of five-figure sales this week and two others that came close. You saw the first three on our all extension leader board. The biggest Global Contender sales you haven’t seen rank #4 and #5 on the new GC Top Top 20 Chart. Those are RLA.org, sold at Sedo for $9,888 and Street.net, sold by GoDaddy Auctions for $9,505.
As they did with the country codes, Sedo came close to sweeping this category with 17 of the 20 chart entries. .Net led the extension race with nine entries, followed closely by .org with eight. A .biz and a pair of .infos filled out the elite list.
There were more four-figure GC sales just off the chart. Sedo had the highest of those with Online-Kredit.net at $2,496. Sedo had 14 more four-figure GC sales ranging from $1,000 to $2,399.
Elsewhere GoDaddy Auctions sold LivrosParaTodos.net ($2,360), DBonhoeffer.org ($2,105) and FreeSpirit.net ($1,800) while SnapNames moved Bilgisayarliegitimedestek.org ($2,205) and FreeFolder.net ($1,514).

| 6-Figure Canadian ccTLD Sale Leads a Trio of Blockbuster Deals That Light Up Our Latest Aftermarket Leader Board | |
| I was away on vacation last week but it was business as usual in the domain aftermarket – actually better than usual. Moniker helped close the year’s 4th biggest ccTLD sale – Slots.ca (Canadian country code) at a whopping $206,906 to take the pole position on our expanded Top 40 Domain Sales Chart (since we are covering two weeks worth of sales this times out, we have doubled the number of positions on our three leader boards).
Two more six-figure sales were closed over the past fortnight. Aron Meystedt of XF.com (who was featured in our September 2009 Cover Story) took the number 2 spot by selling SZ.com for a cool $125,000 and Domain King Rick Schwartz completed the trifecta by closing a $100,000 sale of SydneyHotels.com. Schwartz told us he also just sold RockStars.com for $180,000. That domain is currently being held in escrow while the buyer completes a short payment plan. We received a report of still another six-figure sale (information received from the buyer) – Bosnia.com at $160,000 – but have not received the documentation we need to confirm and chart that sale. |

| While the six-figure sales dominated the top of the chart, solid five-figure sales exploded like 4th of July fireworks including a group of three domains at $50,000 each that included XYZ.com, KnowYourOptions.com and VideoDating.com. Sedo accounted for the latter two sales and went on to sweep 28 of the 40 chart entries. Latonas.com completed the XYZ.com sale after auctioning that name off at last month’s T.R.A.F.F.I.C. Vancouver auction.
In addition to taking the top sport on the all-extension Top 40, country codes piled up eight more chart entries, including #8 Docs.com.cn (Chinese ccTLD) at $31,000 via Sedo. The non .com gTLDS have four representatives on the Big Board, all on the last quarter of the elite list. That category was led by #31 Cambridge-MIT.org at $13,100 in a sale made at NameJet.com. .Com Supporting Cast Sedo led the .com supporting cast with Dietetique.com and Relian.com at €7,500 ($9,525) each. RealCopy.com added $9,500 while R10.com and Koffers.com went for €7,000 ($8,890) apiece. NewRock.com drummed up $8,400, RemortgageDeals.com delivered $8,305 and GaySoulmate.com drew $8,000. XAAS.com kicked in $7,810, HardwareTools.com tacked on $7,100 and two others; SerialKiller.com and ThinkEco.com contributed $7,000 each. FastaPasta.com produced $6,900 and TopArt.com captured $6,750. Sedo had 85 more .com sales ranging from $2,000 to $6,500 that are listed in the table below. |
